व्रत विधि — How to Observe Karwa Chauth Katha Vrat

    संकल्प (Resolve)

    Wake up early on the prescribed auspicious day according to the Hindu calendar. Take a bath and make a solemn resolve (sankalp) to observe the fast with devotion. Wear clean clothes.

    पूजा की तैयारी (Preparation)

    Clean the puja area. Place an idol or image of Parvati. Arrange flowers, akshat (rice grains), roli (vermillion), incense, and a diya.

    पूजा विधि (Worship)

    Light the diya and incense. Offer flowers, akshat, and roli to the deity. Chant the deity's name or mantra 108 times or as prescribed.

    कथा पाठ (Reading the Story)

    Sit in a clean place facing east or north. Read the complete Vrat Katha aloud or listen to it with full attention and devotion.

    आरती (Aarti)

    After the katha, perform the aarti of Parvati. Move the lit diya in a clockwise direction before the deity's image.

    प्रसाद वितरण (Distribute Prasad)

    Prepare and offer prasad to the deity. Distribute it among family members and devotees. Break the fast only after completing the puja.

When to Observe This Vrat

This vrat is traditionally observed on the prescribed auspicious day according to the Hindu calendar. Begin the fast at sunrise and maintain it until the puja and katha reading are complete. During the fast, devotees should abstain from consuming grains (some vrats allow fruits and milk). The fast is especially powerful during Teej, Gauri Puja, Monday (with Shiva). For sixteen-day vrats, maintain continuity without breaking the sequence.
