Goddess Lakshmi, the divine consort of Lord Vishnu, is the deity of wealth, fortune, prosperity, and beauty. She emerged during the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean) and is worshipped on Diwali for blessings of abundance.

मां लक्ष्मी, भगवान विष्णु की दिव्य पत्नी, धन, भाग्य, समृद्धि और सौंदर्य की देवी हैं। समुद्र मंथन के दौरान उनका प्रकट होना और दीपावली पर उनकी पूजा, समृद्धि की कामना का प्रतीक है।

Lakshmi Puja during Diwali is the most widely observed financial/spiritual ritual in India. She represents both material and spiritual wealth.
